Description
Isidore BONHEUR (Bordeaux, 1827 - Paris, 1901) Peasant woman feeding a sow and her piglets Bronze with silver patina, signed. Founder's signature "H. Peyrol Fbt (Paris)". Height: 29 cm. Width: 28.5 cm. Depth: 23 cm (Worn patina, soiling). A cartouche, which has now disappeared, read: "Ministère de l'agriculture, concours de prime d'honneur des Côtes du Nord 1907. Second category cultural prize". The vast majority of Isidore Bonheur's bronze sculptures were produced by the foundryman Hippolyte Peyrol (1856-1929), husband of Juliette Bonheur, the artist's younger sister.
