Description
Joseph MEGLY (1922–2012), Lorraine. The square and Saint-Pierre Church in Liverdun, one spring evening. Large watercolour on paper, signed lower right. 55 x 76.5 cm. Joseph Mégly was a designer at the Saint-Louis crystal works from 1937 to 1967 (awarded the title of ‘Meilleur Ouvrier de France’ in 1952 as a crystal designer). He illustrated several books on Lorraine. A talented watercolourist, he devoted himself mainly to his beloved region of Bitcherland (see Revue Lorraine Populaire no. 95).
