Certificate of illness resulting from bivouacking in the Vendée (Year 6). Certificate of injury sustained whilst fighting bandits at the Battle of Pont Barré (Year 4). Military discharge from the Army of the West following injury at St Fulgent, issued at St Jean de Mont (Year 2). Certificate of civic service and service in the Army of the West (Year 2). Army of the West receipt for a supply of hay (Year 3). Act establishing aid for refugees from the rebellious western departments (Year 4). Engraved portrait of Charette (Restoration period). Circular prohibiting those granted amnesty from the western departments from travelling to Paris (Year 9). Certificate from the Commissioner of War in Niort, dated June 1793, for staff at the general staff headquarters stationed in Parthenay. Letter signed by the Mayor of St Florent near Niort ordering requisitions for 400 men in June 1793. Statement of expenditure for the same purpose. Letter of credence, signed by General Salomon, Niort, July 1793. Certificate for one courier for public service since the start of the unrest in the Vendée, Niort, 1793. A bundle of twenty purchase orders, requisitions and supply records from La Chataigneraie in 1793, signed, amongst others, by Mayor Dechêneaux, including items for the 6th Company of the Fraternité Battalion: nails, planks, salt, thread, candles…. Draft letter requesting a gendarme to dispatch an army service dispatch (Niort, Year II). Draft letter requesting the payment of General Chalbos’s pay and that of two other officers, June 1793. Statement of expenditure for the supply of fodder and travel expenses, Niort, June 1793. Discharge from the Army of the West issued at La Chataigneraie for one native of Fontenay-le-Peuple, Year 3, signed by a general. Account for the supply of firewood to the troops of the army quartered in Niort and the surrounding suburbs. Letter: “The Luçon Division under the command of General T. has, over the past three weeks, engaged in three skirmishes against bandits; in the first, there were 200 killed and a few prisoners, in the second, 2,000 were killed, many taken prisoner and seven guns captured; and in the third, which is regarded as decisive, at least 6,000 were killed, a large number taken prisoner, a considerable number wounded and 17 guns captured. Our army is on the move on all these fronts and, on the 16th (August 1793), 4,000 men are to be billeted in our poor town of Fontenay’... signed Bertin. French Gazette, 17 Ventôse, Year 3: the peace treaty is signed by Charette, Stoflet and Hoche; a long article on the Chouans; and finally a short article on the looting of the Paris mail coach at Brest by the Chouans...
