Description
ALGERIA, 20th century: A letter on letterhead signed by Governor-General Yves Chataigneau in 1944, in which he expresses his gratitude for the words of comfort received following the glorious death of his son (Jacques, a member of the Resistance killed on 24 June). Letter on letterhead from the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Algiers in 1912. Notice of the inaugural meeting of the ‘Constantine-Républicain’ society in 1938 (which would go on to publish ‘L’Écho du Soir’). Three newspapers: *L’Écho d’Alger* (1916), *Le Petit Oranais* (1916), *Le Journal des Consommateurs* (Algiers, 1918). ‘Yes to France and Algeria’: flexible 45-rpm record, address by General de Gaulle on 20 December 1960.
