Description
Entry of Louis XVIII into Paris (3 May 1814, at the Pont Neuf): etching by Frédéric Dubois after a drawing by Courvoisier. View from south to north; the buildings flanking the statue of Henry IV on the left were erected temporarily for the occasion. The statue itself, also temporary, replaced the one demolished in 1792 and preceded the permanent version of 1818. A hot-air balloon highlights the significance of the day. Beautiful period colours (24.5 x 40.5 cm). Framed (44 x 60.5).
