EMPIRE: Napoleon and his family: Decree of Prairial, Year XII, proposing that the Empire be passed down through Napoleon’s family. Engraved portraits, in medallions, of Josephine and Napoleon; fragment of a print depicting the coronation. Imperial decree appointing Prince Camille Borghese to the office of Governor-General of the departments beyond the Alps, February 1808. Message from the Emperor to the Senate ceding the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt to Eugène Napoléon. Decree granting Princess Éliza the general governorship of Tuscany (including organisational details, 7 pages), March 1809. Senate decree of August 1806: the Principality of Guastalla having been ceded to the Kingdom of Italy, lands were granted to Princess Pauline and Prince Borghese, who were married, in lieu of the ceded territory. Message: Prince Joachim, King of the Two Sicilies, having ceded the Grand Duchy of Berg and Cleves, it was handed over to ‘our nephew Prince Napoleon Louis’ (Louis’s second son) in March 1809.
