WEDDING PALANKIN IN LACQUERED AND PARTIALLY GILDED WOOD, CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY Rectangular in shape, topped by a bamboo pagoda roof framed by a finely carved cornice featuring plant motifs, with carved phoenix decorations at the four corners. The front features a double door, the leaves of which are divided into ten panels decorated in relief or with openwork, flanked by two panels bearing Chinese inscriptions and others with relief decoration. All sides are richly decorated at the top with panels featuring figures or naturalistic motifs, and at the bottom with panels painted in gold depicting scenes with figures. In good condition, with minor wear and small cuts in the wood due to age, minor wear to the gilding, and the four metal handles for securing the removable carrying poles are missing. 205 x 95 x 95 cm A PARTIALLY GILT-PAINTED, LACQUERED WOOD WEDDING PALANQUIN, CHINA, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY Rectangular in shape, surmounted by a bamboo pagoda roof surrounded by a rim finely carved with naturalistic motifs, with the four triangular corners carved with phoenixes.
