A substantial bronze group with a brown patina.
Signed ‘E.DROUOT’ on the base.
Height: 76.5
Beautiful patina showing signs of age.
Note & bibliography:
- Edouard Drouot was born in Sommevoire in 1859 and studied in Paris under Mathurin Moreau. He began exhibiting at the 1889 Salon, winning a third-class medal at the 1892 Salon and an honourable mention at the 1900 World’s Fair. He specialised in allegorical and mythological figures, such as this bronze.
- Our sculpture depicts Hebe and the eagle, the symbol of Jupiter. The daughter of Zeus and Hera, Hebe embodies youth.
