Basterretxea’s series of “Disc-shaped Stelae” aims to establish a dialogue between tradition and modernity. An icon steeped in history, this series, thanks to the work of its creator, shifts from an expiatory dimension to an ostentatious one. Our stone version is part of a series of three sculptures created in wood, stone and bronze. The wooden version is now housed at the Basque Museum in Bayonne.
