In 1962, the artist became interested in a physical representation of the Irrintzi. He began with sculpture before moving on to ink drawings on paper. The Irrintzi, a symbol of Basque intangible culture, is depicted here as an oscillation representing high and low notes. The year 1962 also marked the artist’s first solo exhibition.
