Surrealist female nude, Contemporary Cuban School, 20th century Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 99 x 79 cm; 102 x 84 cm with frame. A surrealist and expressionist composition centred on the figure of a female nude, seen from behind, positioned vertically along the central axis of the work and rendered with soft gradations of light that contrast with the gestural dynamism of the surroundings. The anatomy is rendered with great formal elegance, emphasising the body’s twist, the movement of the hair, and the introspective demeanour of the central figure, enveloped by an atmosphere of sinuous lines and black graphic marks that cover the entire painted surface. On either side emerge multiple anthropomorphic figures in intense shades of red, orange and yellow, conceived almost as psychic presences or fragmented visions, generating a complex dialogue between sensuality, emotional tension and expressive energy.
