Description
ATTRIBUTED TO IPPOLITO CAFFI (Belluno, 1809 – Lissa, 1866) - Duel by Moonlight Tempera on cardboard. Dimensions: 67 x 90 cm. An interesting composition of a Romantic nature attributed to the Italian painter Ippolito Caffi, renowned for his refined vedute and nocturnal scenes, which display a great sensitivity to light. The work depicts a nocturnal duel illuminated by moonlight, creating a dramatic and evocative atmosphere through a delicate handling of light and the contrasts between shadows and reflections. The scene stands out for its careful spatial composition and the narrative quality characteristic of 19th-century Italian painting, in which the landscape and setting play a key role within the composition. The use of tempera on cardboard lends a soft texture and a special chromatic subtlety, reinforcing the intimate and theatrical character of the depiction. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export licence from the country of origin may be required.
