Icon of Saint Nicholas of Myra Enthroned, Russian School, 19th century Tempera on cypress wood panel with an ornately gilded background and border. Measures 35.2 x 30.3 cm. The icon depicts a frontal bust of Saint Nicholas of Myra, dressed in episcopal robes and a jewelled crown, holding a decorated Gospel book whilst blessing with his right hand. The figure is set against a gold background framed by a blue and gold floral border. In the upper corners are Christ and the Virgin Mary on clouds, both bearing liturgical attributes. Visible restorations are present in various areas of the painted surface.
