The Grand Coronation of Mary – Viladomat or Manuel Tramulles (Barcelona, Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 151 x 110 cm; framed 159 x 119 cm. A religious composition presided over by the crowned Virgin, seated upon clouds and cherubs, with her arms outstretched in a protective gesture towards Franciscan saints and devout figures arranged in the lower section. The red tunic and dark mantle stand out against a golden, celestial backdrop, whilst the faces of the figures below express contemplation, prayer and fervour. The work reflects the Catalan devotional Baroque style of the 18th century.
