Christ of the Torn Garments, Majorcan School, 17th century Oil on canvas. A dramatic depiction of Christ during the episode in which his garments are torn, kneeling beside the cross whilst his lacerated body is bathed in intense, blood-red highlights that stand out against a profoundly dark background. Above, the Virgin Mary and a male figure contemplate the scene with gestures of restrained grief and spiritual contemplation, creating an emotional dialogue that reinforces the devotional intensity of the composition.
