Description
Portrait of the Captain General, Hispano-Flemish school, 17th century, circle of Cornelis Schut III the Younger (Antwerp, 1629 – Seville, 1685) Oil on canvas, framed dimensions: 120 x 105 cm. Canvas dimensions: 106 x 81 cm. This would also explain why, according to Ceán Bermúdez, in his day there were many works preserved in Seville in the possession of private individuals, whilst only one public work was known: an Immaculate Conception, already cited by Palomino, set within an altarpiece at the Puerta de Carmona. Like so many other Spanish painters, Schut must have addressed this matter on numerous ...
