Description
Polychrome Egyptian funerary mask, Late Period, 7th–4th century BC.
Polychrome wood with traces of gilding and mineral pigments. Measures 27 x 22 cm. A funerary mask with an idealised face, featuring red lips, rosy cheeks, almond-shaped eyes outlined in black, and arched eyebrows. The head is adorned with a black wig and shows traces of polychromy in shades of ochre and yellow. The surface exhibits areas of loss, cracks, flaking and erosion. The reverse side displays an old patina, traces of resin and mounting holes.
