Description
Thangka of Amitayus’ Paradise, Tibetan school, 18th century Polychrome pigments and gilt highlights on cotton canvas with brocade. Dimensions: 57 x 43 cm; with brocade: 78 x 55 cm. The scene depicts Amitayus seated in a meditative pose before palatial architecture, holding a ritual vessel. The composition is organised into registers populated by numerous deities, seated figures, protective deities and attendants, distributed amongst clouds, terraces and vegetation. The lower section features groups of figures and floral offerings, whilst the upper section incorporates temples and sacred figures surrounded by mountainous landscapes and cloud formations.
