Description
Globular pot in cloisonné enamel with dragons, Chinese Qing school, 19th–20th century
Cloisonné-enamelled bronze with lid. Measures 27 cm in height. Globular vessel decorated with vibrant polychrome cloisonné enamels featuring large celestial dragons set within lobed medallions on a background covered with vegetal scrolls and peony blossoms. The surface displays an exuberant ornamental repertoire in shades of turquoise, blue, green, red and white, delineated by fine gilded metal partitions that structure each decorative motif. The facing dragons, with their dynamic expressions, symbolise imperial power, protection and prosperity within traditional Chinese iconography. The enveloping composition and chromatic intensity fully reflect the technical refinement achieved by the cloisonné workshops of the late Qing period. The metal lid completes the piece, providing formal balance to an object designed for both decorative and ceremonial use. The work stands out for the visual richness of its polychromy and the meticulous precision of its craftsmanship. 27 cm in height.
