Description
Pair of angels, Spanish School, late 18th and early 19th century
Carved, polychromed and gilded wood. A pair of child angels depicted in a dynamic, suspended pose, with rounded forms and expressive gestures that convey a sense of upward movement. The polychromy of soft flesh tones and the gilded drapery contrast with the liveliness of their postures, whilst the modelling reveals a stylistic transition between the late Baroque and the first echoes of Neoclassicism. These sculptures belong to the religious ornamental tradition intended for altarpieces and temporary structures, standing out for their decorative and spiritual character. Dimensions: 62 x 68 cm.
