The Child Jesus Blessing, Spanish School, early 18th century.
Polychrome wood sculpture. Dimensions: 25 x 23 x 21 cm, excluding the base. A freestanding figure of the nude Christ Child, seated on a velvet-covered cylindrical base and partially covered with a bluish-grey loincloth. The figure has outstretched arms in a gesture of blessing and welcome, with the head gently turned to one side and a kind, childlike expression. The hair is rendered in curly strands, and the polychrome finish has a glossy sheen on the flesh tones, accentuating the rounded modelling of the body and the devotional effect of the piece.
