Virgin and Child, Spanish School, 17th century Carved and polychromed wood. Dimensions: 82 x 30 x 22 cm. A sculpture of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus in her arms, depicted in a solemn, frontal composition typical of Baroque devotional imagery. The Virgin is depicted wearing a blue tunic decorated with floral motifs and ample polychrome robes enriched with gold details, whilst the Child holds the orb as a symbol of his universal sovereignty.
