Monumental Venetian fountain in polychrome marble, Venice, Italy, 19th century Carved polychrome marble. Dimensions: 182 cm high; 100 cm maximum width; 75 cm maximum depth. A monumental Venetian ornamental fountain comprising three sections, crafted from a rich combination of polychrome marbles to create a striking decorative effect. The piece features an architectural structure crowned by a scallop shell, with a central lion’s mask in relief and a large, scalloped basin in the shape of a shell, resting on an elegant pedestal composed of twisted supports in veined marble. The work stands out for its generous proportions, its remarkable sculptural presence and the quality of the carving, reflecting the 19th-century Venetian historicist style. It exhibits minor imperfections on the lion’s face and surface wear consistent with its age, but is generally in good condition. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU).
