Tabletop with a Baroque Portuguese tile panel, Portuguese School, 17th–18th century Glazed ceramic tiles in cobalt blue on a white ground. Dimensions: 300 x 100 cm. A large panel composed of multiple individual Portuguese tiles arranged in a regular grid, creating a striking ornamental visual effect. Each fragment features Baroque motifs inspired by architecture and the natural world: dynamic scrolls, enveloping volutes, fragments of Solomonic columns, cornices, vases, garlands and stylised floral elements that intertwine to create a sinuous and immersive rhythm. The alternation of partial scenes and decorative details produces a vibrant sense of movement, where the cobalt blue, masterfully applied over the tin-glazed surface, unfolds in shades ranging from deep, saturated tones to softer washes, adding chromatic richness and depth.
