Description
Pair of armorial plates in blue and white faience, France or Italy, 18th century
Tin-gilt faience painted in blue. Measures 25 cm in diameter. Pair of circular plates with blue camaieu decoration. The centre features a crowned coat-of-arms shield framed by mantling within a medallion, whilst the rim is decorated with vegetal scrolls and quatrefoil panels containing floral bouquets. The reverse bears concentric fillets and a painted mark. There is chipping on the rim, visible old restorations and wear to the glaze.
