Imari lidded vase, Japan, late 18th – early 19th century.
Imari porcelain, glazed and decorated in underglaze blue with red and gold accents. Dimensions: 46 x 28 x 28 cm. An ovoid vase with a lid surmounted by a Fo dog, covered in a rich decoration of floral reserves, geometric motifs, and plant compositions arranged in bands. Iron red, cobalt blue and gold details stand out against a white background, creating a densely ornamented surface characteristic of Japanese Imari porcelain intended for export. The symmetrical arrangement of the motifs and the exuberant colours reinforce the decorative character of the piece.
