Description
Les Trésors de la Mer by Versace for Rosenthal. German School. 20th century
Glazed and decorated porcelain. Dimensions: bowls H 10.5 cm x D 20 cm, platter L 28 cm x W 20.5 cm, plates D 27 cm. This set comprises three bowls, one oval platter and six dinner plates from the celebrated *Les Trésors de la Mer* collection, designed by Versace for the German firm Rosenthal from 1994 onwards, based on the elegant Ikarus shape. The meticulously executed decoration features a lavish array of marine motifs in shades of turquoise, coral, ultramarine and gold against a white background, highlighting seashells, branching corals and baroque elements in gleaming gold. The stylised ornamentation evokes a mythological and sumptuous world, where decorative opulence becomes a symbol of Mediterranean sophistication. Each piece bears the company’s hallmark in black and gold, a testament to its authenticity. The technical quality of the porcelain, the uniform glaze and the vibrant colours confirm the excellence of the Rosenthal manufacture, renowned for its collaborations with internationally acclaimed designers. Although the set is in generally good condition, there is a small chip on the rim of the serving platter. This collection, already regarded as iconic of late 20th-century design, combines luxury, fantasy and craftsmanship in a visually striking ensemble. Dimensions: bowls H 10.5 cm x D 20 cm, platter L 28 cm x W 20.5 cm, plates D 27 cm.
