Description
Pair of Important 18th-Century Venetian Rococo Armchairs
Carved and gilded wood, upholstered in green velvet. Dimensions: 120 x 72 x 64 cm each. An elegant set of armchairs featuring moulded backs, curved arms and cabriole legs, lavishly carved with plant motifs, flowers and scrolls. The fire-gilding enhances the ornamental richness of the set, whilst the deep green velvet upholstery lends it a palatial air. The design and decoration reflect the transitional styles between Rococo and Neoclassicism, typical of French cabinetmaking at the end of the 18th century. These pieces have a striking presence, combining technical mastery with formal sophistication.
