Large Russian silver buckle, handcrafted in niello silver. 84 silver Zolotnik. 33 g. Silver and niello work. Measures 7.8 x 6.1 cm; dagger 5.2 cm. Russian imperial buckle comprising two parts joined by a chain and a dagger-shaped clasp, decorated with characteristic niello motifs. It bears seven hallmarks, including the imperial eagle, the 84 Zolotnik mark, the date 1880, the initials TN, and Cyrillic assayer’s and maker’s marks. A meticulously crafted piece of considerable interest to collectors of 19th-century Russian silverware.
