Description
Important Florentine neo-Gothic pulpit, Italy, Florence, 18th century Alabaster Fiorito marble and Verde Alpi marble columns, carved and sculpted. Dimensions: 180 × 130 × 175 cm. An extraordinary monumental pulpit crafted from the prized Alabaster Fiorito marble, embellished with elegant monolithic Verde Alpi marble columns, a magnificent example of Florentine religious sculpture and architecture. Originally from a church in Florence, it is an authentic and exceptional work, conceived with extraordinary ornamental richness and executed with the highest quality materials. The front is dominated by a superb high relief depicting a religious theme, masterfully sculpted with a profound sense of volume and remarkable delicacy in the rendering of anatomy, the folds of the drapery, and the expressiveness of the figures. The entire ensemble is surrounded by refined decoration featuring Gothic tracery, openwork plant motifs and richly ornamented capitals, reflecting the mastery of Florentine workshops specialising in monumental marble sculpture. The exceptional quality of Fiorito Alabaster—one of the most prized ornamental marbles for its luminosity and spectacular polychrome veining—contrasts harmoniously with the chromatic intensity of Verde Alpi marble, lending the piece an extraordinarily elegant presence. Owing to its ecclesiastical provenance, monumental dimensions, the sculptural richness of its iconographic programme, and the exclusivity of its materials, it constitutes a unique work of its kind and is of great interest to collectors and institutions. All documentation regarding provenance and sale is in order. It is presented in good overall condition. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export licence from the country of origin may be required.
