Male Torso. Carrara Marble. 20th Century Carrara marble. Height 43 cm (torso only, including the base). A magnificent male torso carved from Carrara marble, conceived as a classical-inspired fragment emphasising the idealised anatomy of the human body through smooth modelling and harmonious proportions. The figure retains the naturalistic rendering of the torso and the drapery falling over the left shoulder, whilst the deliberately truncated head, arms and legs evoke the appearance of surviving fragments of ancient sculpture. The quality of the Carrara marble, the refined finish of the surfaces, and the careful craftsmanship reflect a faithful interpretation of classical sculptural models. Created during the 20th century, the sculpture is in perfect condition.
