Description
Musician shepherd with llamas. Peruvian School. 20th century
Cast, chased and assembled from 800 silver. Measures 8 x 5 cm. A miniature pastoral scene centred on a seated musician playing an instrument, accompanied by a small figure and two llamas arranged on different planes. The composition adopts a horizontal and theatrical arrangement, with the main group raised on an irregular base that emphasises the narrative quality. The figures are stylised, yet retain expressive details in their faces, clothing and fur, enhanced by contrasts between polished areas and surface oxidation. The work belongs to the tradition of 20th-century Andean folk silverwork, in which scenes of music, shepherding and rural life became symbols of regional identity. Its significance lies in the union of craftsmanship, folk memory and delicate miniaturist expressiveness. 8 x 5 cm
