Portuguese School of Josefa de Óbidos and Baltazar Gomes Figueira (Óbidos, 1604 – Óbidos, 1674). 17th century Oil on canvas. Dimensions without frame: 50 x 38 cm. Dimensions with frame: 61 x 49 cm. A kneeling lady receives the blessing of a saintly bishop, whilst a celestial vision featuring angelic figures completes the devotional scene. The vibrant colours, the theatricality of the gestures and the ascending composition reflect the late Baroque style of the Hispanic world.
