F. CAUWELAERT, A PUPIL OF ADOLPHE SAX – Prototype bombardment Metal. Dimensions: 99 x 42 x 99 cm. An interesting prototype euphonium dating from the early 20th century, made by F. Cauwelaert, who is said to have been a pupil of Adolphe Sax. The instrument is of considerable interest within the history of organology and the evolution of brass instruments, as it represents a type associated with the technical and formal experimentation that took place within the brass family in the wake of the innovations introduced by Sax.
