Woomera spear thrower. Aboriginal people, Australia, 19th–20th century Wood. Dimensions: 70 × 9 × 2 cm. A traditional Australian spearhead used to increase the power and range of a spear throw. Carved from a single piece of wood and fitted with a spur at the end, this type of object played an essential role in hunting and warfare, and also held significant cultural and symbolic value within Aboriginal communities. Its simple form and signs of use demonstrate its functional nature, whilst the patina and balanced proportions reflect the deep integration of utility and tradition in Australian Aboriginal material culture. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
