Description
According to Jean-Antoine Watteau (1684–1721) – Embarkation for the Island of Cythera, 19th century Pastel. Dimensions: 74 × 100 cm. This pastel is inspired by Watteau’s famous composition depicting the amorous embarkation for the island of Cythera, a symbol of love and the gallant ideal in French Rococo painting. The work recreates the scenic arrangement and poetic atmosphere of the original, featuring elegant figures set against an idyllic, dreamlike landscape. Created as a later reinterpretation, the piece bears witness to Watteau’s enduring influence on European painting and the continued interest in his ‘fête galante’ scenes. This item is stored in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export licence from the country of origin may be required.
