Ritual iron coin. Kirdi people, Cameroon. 19th–20th century Iron. Dimensions: 20 × 8 cm. A wrought-iron object used as a form of traditional currency within the economic and ritual systems of the Kirdi people. These pieces served as a medium of exchange and a symbol of value, and could play a significant role in ceremonial, social or prestige contexts. The formal simplicity and patina of use reflect its practical function and its integration into the material culture of Central Africa. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU).
