Antique collection of mounted butterflies, restored and free from pests, 20th century Entomological specimens. Dimensions: 40 × 50 cm. An exceptional historical collection comprising approximately 3,400 dried butterflies (57 cases) mounted on pins, 30 per cent of which originate from Europe and the remainder from regions such as Africa, Madagascar, India, Japan, Sri Lanka, South America, Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and Indonesia. This type of collection was highly prized by naturalists and enthusiasts during the 19th and 20th centuries, particularly during the Victorian era, when the study of insects was regarded as a scientific and educational pursuit. The specimen has been restored and is completely free from pests, possessing significant scientific and decorative value. Provenance: private collection. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required.
