Monumental Venus in Carrara marble – Italy, late 19th century – 20th century. Marble carved with elegance and sensitivity. Dimensions: 200 x 65 cm. The sculpture depicts a standing female figure, dressed in a peplos with wide folds that fall gently to her bare feet, conveying a sense of serenity and balance. The young woman delicately holds a bouquet of flowers in her lap, an element that emphasises her symbolic association with fertility, nature or the seasons, possibly as an allegory of Spring or a nymph from the Classical world. Her oval face, with a melancholic expression and downcast gaze, is framed by a Hellenistic-inspired hairstyle consisting of wavy locks gathered in a side bun. The marble surface reveals fine modelling in the textures of the dress and the anatomical forms, achieving a harmony between realism and idealisation.
