Spanish walnut table with candlestick legs. Spanish School. 17th century.
Carved walnut with iron reinforcements. Dimensions: 75 x 120 x 88 cm. A 17th-century Spanish table of the candlestick-leg type, characterised by its turned legs, which are widened at the base and joined by side stiles and iron reinforcements in the shape of a cross. The rectangular tabletop is distinguished by its simplicity, in keeping with the Castilian Baroque tradition. Its balanced structure conveys robustness and functionality, typical of utilitarian convent and domestic furniture of the period, where formal simplicity takes precedence over ornamentation.
