Description
A pair of mirrors gilded in fine gold. European School. 19th century.
Carved and gilded wood with bevelled mirrors. Dimensions: 140 x 60 x 20 cm. A set of two late Rococo-style mirrors, made in the 19th century, with sinuous frames lavishly ornamented with plant scrolls, rocaille and winged figures at the top. The irregular profiles frame the sinuous mirror surfaces, creating a dynamic and theatrical effect. The rich ornamentation and gleaming gilding evoke the decorative opulence of 19th-century French Rococo-inspired furniture, designed to embellish palatial or bourgeois interiors with a language of luxury and sophistication.
