The Last Supper, signed C. Gielen, Spanish school, 20th century Oil on canvas. Dimensions 106 x 56 cm; framed 123 x 62 cm. A horizontal composition depicting Christ at the centre of a long table covered with a white tablecloth, surrounded by the apostles grouped on either side in various poses—talking, listening and contemplating. The room is lit by a lamp above and by the halo surrounding Christ’s head; his hand holds the circular object on the table. In the foreground are vessels and a large goblet, whilst in the background small side views frame the interior. Signed C. Gielen.
