Sculptural group of folk musicians, Spanish school, 18th century Modelled terracotta. Dimensions: 104 x 80 x 66 cm. A sculptural group featuring two folk figures on a rocky plinth: a standing male figure plays a wind instrument held aloft, whilst another crouches beside him with a drum. The figures are depicted in motion, with bent legs and turned bodies, and display weathered surfaces that retain traces of modelling on their faces, hair and clothing. The composition rises in an ascending manner from the irregular base to the central figure, which dominates the group.
