Bust of a female deity, Devata, Apsara or Uma Remains of a tall torso, depicted nude, with a full breast modelled with naturalism and sensuality in accordance with the Khmer ideal of divine femininity. A small fragment of a sculpted necklace is visible around the neck; the shoulders are broad and flat, and tool marks are present on the sides and back. The surface shows patina, wear and old chipping, with a soft polish on the reliefs. Cambodia. Khmer, Classical Angkorian period, Baphuon style. 11th to 13th centuries. Grey sandstone. 23 x 15 cm. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. An export licence from the country of origin may be required.
