Cizhou-type ceramic vessel with plant and calligraphic decoration A globular bowl on a ring-shaped foot with a short, open neck, glazed with underglaze painted decoration in manganese brown on an ivory background, comprising stylised plant scrolls and calligraphic motifs. The shoulder is highlighted by an incised and painted geometric frieze. The light glaze, which is slightly craquelured, stops above the foot, revealing a grey body beneath. Unglazed base. China.
