Cylindrical jar for cosmetics made of alabaster or limestone
Used for ointments and perfumed oils, turned and hollowed from a single block, with a translucent texture and horizontal veins of beige, honey and brown, serving as natural decoration. The outer wall is slightly straight, with a thin rim, a flat base and a thickened lip, showing minor chips and wear. The interior is deeply hollowed out, with circular tool marks. Overall in good condition for an archaeological object from a funerary context. Egypt. Old or Middle Kingdom, 3rd–2nd millennium BC. 4th–6th Dynasties, c. 2613–2181 BC. Height 20 cm × diameter 11.5 cm. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU.
