Description
Globular stoneware flask with a wide, low body and a short, open-rimmed neck China. Yuan Dynasty. 1279–1368. Covered with a thick, uniform, glossy, monochrome black glaze with a slight dripping effect and subtle nuances. The flat, unglazed base reveals a very compact, greyish-beige body with traces of firing and age-related wear. The black glaze continues on the interior. The lack of decoration, the robust form and the understated finish are characteristic of mirror-black glazed stoneware produced in workshops in northern China during the Yuan Dynasty. This type of vessel was used for storing liquids or items intended for everyday or ritual use. Lot held in an international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipment: no import duties apply within the EU. An export licence from the country of origin may be required.
