Description
European Impressionist school, flamed Oil on panel. Dimensions: 60 x 50 cm. This urban landscape is constructed using a vibrant, fragmented technique of colour application, where the surface is articulated through small brushstrokes and pointillist touches that generate an intense luminous atmosphere. The composition is organised around a central building with a robust volume and a tall chimney, flanked by lateral buildings that define an open space in the foreground, possibly a plaza or body of water, whose surface reflects and breaks down the dominant tones. The sky, treated in a warm range of yellows, ochres, and oranges, envelops the scene in a golden luminosity that blends with the architectural plans, while the blues, greens, and reds applied in small, dense patches add depth and visual dynamism. The brushwork is impasto, rhythmic, and overlapping, generating a vibrant texture that partially dematerializes the forms and emphasizes optical perception over descriptive detail. The signature visible in the lower right corner confirms its authorship. The work stands out for its chromatic intensity, the study of light and atmosphere, as well as for the gestural freedom in the application of the pigment, features linked to the evolution of the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist language in the 20th century, where the sensory capture of the urban environment takes precedence over meticulous representation, giving the work a strong visual and expressive presence.
