Description
Aung KO (1980) - Self-portrait Gold resin sculpture. Dimensions: 60 x 90 x 80 cm. Born in 1980 in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Burma). After studying painting at Yangon Culture University in 2002, Aung Ko focuses on the complex yet natural evolution of materials that are transformed, used, reused, reinvested, and rearranged, and often combined in the artist's unique projects. The nature of time, the unstable political climate, and periods of gestation are the central themes that underpin the singular temporality of each of his creations. His works have been exhibited at the Singapore Biennale in 2008, the 4th Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale (Japan) in 2009, the Onomichi City Museum (Japan) from 2014 to 2015, the Palais de Tokyo (France) from 2015, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Singapore from 2015 to 2016. He founded the Thuye'dan Village Art Project in his hometown in Myanmar.
