Description
Child Jesus, Sevillian School, 17th Century Carved and polychromed wood. Measures 46 x 10 cm and 65 x 21 cm with base. This freestanding sculpture depicts the Christ Child standing, blessing with one hand while holding an orb in the other, a symbol of his universal sovereignty. The modeling is delicate and naturalistic, with particular attention to the child's anatomy and the sweet expression of his face. The polychromy, with its soft tones and warm flesh tones, retains traces of brocade on the base. The work is firmly attributed to the Sevillian school of the 17th century, characterized by its profound devotional sensibility and high technical skill. 46 x 10 cm and 65 x 21 cm
